NewsDeaf Australia NDIS Information PaperAdded Wed - 25/07/12 On 3rd February 2012 Deaf Australia and National Disability Services hosted a Deaf Sector Forum on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for key organisations in the sector. The day’s discussions and informal discussions with people in the deaf sector after the forum formed the basis of a policy advice paper that Deaf Australia prepared for the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA).
FaHCSIA has now approved the paper for public release.
If you are interested to read the paper you can find it at http://www.deafau.org.au/download/PolicyPaperonNDISandtheDeafSectorJune2012.pdf
If you are not able to access the paper, please contact Gaye Lyons on gaye.lyons@deafau.org.au and she will send you a copy.
The NDIS is a work in progress and this paper is about the current situation. This situation will change as government moves on with its preparations for the NDIS and we all move on in our own preparations for it.
I hope that the paper will be useful for all of us in the Deaf sector in helping to clarify and identify what we all need to do in the lead up to the roll out of the NDIS.
If you have any comments about the paper or the NDIS please feel free to email me.
